Blog Post, Autumn

It feels like winter is coming quickly this year, those long summer days ended with daylight savings finishing and the temperature has dropped suddenly.

To combat those feelings of winter I decided on a road trip yesterday. Ollie, my Chocolate Labrador and I set off for Arthurs pass. We packed a lunch and off we went. The road was busy being the first day of the long weekend of Easter. This was no bother as the scenery was spectacular. I had forgotten the beauty of this part of Canterbury, the mountain views were amazing. We found places to explore, Cave stream was a short walk to a stream and a cave, definitely worth the walk. Also Castle Hill, I had been here before but jumbled rocks is always an interesting view. We drove past Lake Pearson, a very pretty lake.

We drove on to Arthurs pass which was very busy. It was more built up than I remembered it. I found a few walks Iā€™d need to come back and do as Ollie was not allowed. Arthurs pass Walking Track, a gentle 2-3 hours walk or The Devils punch bowl a 1 hour return walk to a waterfall and the Otira Vally track 2 hours return are worth coming back to do. Instead we drove back to Mt White bridge, a hidden gem and a great spot for a walk and run for Ollie. The photo is of the bridge and the scenery beyond.

There is so much to do in this part of Canterbury. If you love the outdoors and earning your views we have paradise on your doorstep here at Gem bed and Breakfast.
